Details:
Campers will explore the basics of robotics and computer programming through engaging hands-on activities and collaborative projects.
Beginner coders will start with an introduction to coding using Scratch, a user-friendly programming language that lets kids create their own interactive stories, games, and animations. Campers will learn fundamental coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, and conditionals, within Scratch’s fun and visual platform. By the end of the camp, they’ll have completed various projects and games that they can share with family and friends!
For Middle schoolers and experienced younger coders, we offer a Python coding track. Python is a versatile programming language that’s great for budding developers. Campers will dive into the basics of Python and learn how to create games and simple apps. They’ll explore game mechanics, logic, and algorithms while working on projects that challenge their creativity and technical skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to enhance their coding knowledge and gain experience with a language widely used in the industry.
All campers will then apply their coding knowledge (using Scratch or Python) to work in small groups to build and program their own robots using kits that include programmable sensors, motors, and custom add-on components. They’ll learn how to make their robots move, respond to their environment, and complete challenges. This hands-on experience encourages teamwork and problem-solving skills as campers collaborate to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
**Campers younger than 11 may enroll with prior approval from us based on experience (eg. existing TCS students), please contact us to discuss.
